starting over again
when the stars on your ceiling won’t glow
it’s a semblance of home
with furniture you took from
the side of the road
you’re staying in
and making things alone
writing sequels to the songs you love
there’s constellations when your eyes are tightly closed
if you wanna hang, just roll thru
it’s whatever now, do what you need to do
I’ve missed out on a lot
tryna keep up with what I’m not
if I never know what I want
why’s it still so hard to love what I’ve got
as much as what I’ve lost
or given up on
oh,

we got high
together
on your balcony
I cracked your back
on my first try
did it perfect,
pretending like I knew what I was doin’
like there was nothin’ to it
ba ba, ba ba
ba ba, ba ba
then the fog
rolled in
so thick and dizzyin’
I was too sick to sit
so I lied down on my back on your bed
ate the ice cream you made
I still felt like shit
ba ba, ba ba
ba ba, ba ba
I've got a commemorative coin
in a box somewhere
that we bought at Crater Lake
at the gift shop, it was next to nothing
a little thing
sometimes is all it takes
and you’re back
ba ba, ba ba
ba ba, ba ba

when you’re asking everyone you know
what they do to get to sleep
everybody knows something that you don’t
‘there’s a million little tricks to it’
‘here’s another one you have to try’
am I the only one I know that doesn’t know
that never figured it out
when I’m shattered on a concrete wall
in the moment right before I go
I’ll be thinking that I’m Kitty Pryde
swear I don’t know what’s gotten into me
or if this is how I’ll always be
what it was I was supposed to think
figure it out
we’re not allowed to fail

Autonomy

the tornado spinnin’
just like a drunk
bottoming out
out of it and sunk
a siren so sudden
flashes past
going back where we’ve been
through the rain
too fast
and once I thought
I’d reached the part
where this could finally end
and we’d ride off in the sun
it’s the scene
where your whole team
is screaming “it’s a trap”
picked off one by one
is it a sign from god
or an invasive thought?
I’ll take it as it comes
rolling the dice at best
and if this is it,
no more starting over again,
nothing left to do but run
